We want every owner to be able to use this website comfortably, whatever device or assistive technology they rely on.
Our commitment
Sanctuary Get Involved is built to be usable by as many people as possible, including owners who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, or other assistive technology. We design and test the site ourselves rather than relying on an automatic overlay, because real accessibility comes from the underlying pages, not a bolt-on widget.
We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at the AA level as a practical target. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and there may be areas we can still improve.
What we've built in
- A clear, consistent page structure with proper headings and landmarks
- A "Skip to content" link for keyboard and screen-reader users
- Visible keyboard focus on every interactive element
- Adjustable text size, a high-contrast mode, link underlining, and a reduce-motion option
- Descriptive text for meaningful images, and hidden decorative ones from assistive technology
- Form fields with labels, clear instructions, and accessible error messages
- Color is never the only way information is conveyed
Keyboard & screen-reader support
Every page can be navigated with a keyboard alone. Menus, links, buttons, and form controls are reachable with the Tab key and operable with Enter or Space. The site has been checked with screen-reader software, and we continue to test as we add new pages.
Built-in display options
Use the "Accessibility" control in the site header to increase or decrease text size, turn on high-contrast mode, underline links, or reduce motion. Your choices are saved on your device. These options work alongside your browser and operating-system settings, including page zoom and your own assistive technology.
Reporting a problem
If you run into any barrier using this site, please tell us — your feedback helps us fix it. Email us and, if you can, include the page address and a short description of the problem. We aim to respond within a few business days.
